Taney County lies just across the state line from Carroll and Boone counties, and it's home to Branson, Hollister, and Forsyth, the county seat. From Berryville, Hollister is about 36 miles north by Highway 21, Missouri 86, and US 65. The county was organized in 1837 and covers about 652 square miles. The 2020 Census counted 56,066 residents, and about 37 percent of them live in rural areas. Away from the Branson strip, the land is steep, rocky, and wooded, and the jobs that come up are land clearing, forestry mulching, and gravel driveways on hillside acreage and lake-area lots.
Taney County land, in short
Three lakes on one river. The White River runs through the county as a chain of reservoirs: Table Rock Lake on the west, Lake Taneycomo through Branson and Forsyth, and Bull Shoals Lake to the east. Shoreline land on Table Rock and Bull Shoals is managed by the Corps of Engineers.
Thin, rocky soils. The three largest soils in the county's USDA survey, Gasconade, Ocie, and Gatewood, each cover close to a fifth of the county. Gasconade is shallow and rocky over bedrock, and Gatewood has a very heavy clay subsoil.
Rock outcrop is its own map unit. The survey maps about 42,000 acres, around a tenth of the county, as rock outcrop. On glade slopes, bedrock can decide where a pad or drive can go before anything else does.
Taneycomo is a century old. Powersite Dam at Forsyth formed Lake Taneycomo in 1913 and was Missouri's first hydroelectric dam. Since Table Rock Dam opened upstream in 1958, the lake has run cold, fed from the bottom of Table Rock.
National forest in the county. Part of the Mark Twain National Forest lies in Taney County. If your land borders it, confirm the boundary before clearing along it.

How we sequence the work: Clear → Access → Drain
On Taney County hillsides, rock and water set the plan. We clear first so the outcrops, draws, and old washouts are visible. Then we pick and build a route in that a truck can climb without spinning. Then we shape the ground so water leaves the site on purpose instead of running down the new gravel. The pad or driveway goes in last. Packages on the home page: Mulch & Open, Clear → Usable, and Clear → Driveway/Build-Ready. Each job starts with a free on-site quote.
Permits worth knowing about
Missouri rules differ from Arkansas rules, and Taney County has its own. These are the ones that matter most:
Taney County Land Disturbance Permit: the county requires one for non-agricultural land disturbance over one acre, and grading (other than hand clearing or brush-hogging) can't start until it's issued. Individual residential lots of an acre or less and agricultural work are generally exempt.
Missouri DNR and Missouri 811: construction that disturbs one acre or more needs a state land disturbance permit with a stormwater plan. Before any digging, Missouri law requires a Missouri 811 locate request two to ten working days ahead.
Lake shorelines: on Table Rock and Bull Shoals, the Corps of Engineers must approve in writing any mowing or brush work on its shoreline, and it bars vehicles, fires, and chemicals there.
