Serving Benton County, AR

Forestry Mulching, Land Clearing, Driveway, Drainage, Landscaping, Hardscaping and more.

Benton County is the northwest corner of Arkansas and the most populous county we serve, with 284,333 people in the 2020 Census. It was created in 1836, covers about 885 square miles, and Bentonville is the county seat. Our Berryville base is about 33 miles from Garfield and about 46 from Rogers, straight west on US 62. Roughly a quarter of county residents live in rural areas, and that's where we fit: land clearing and forestry mulching on acreage east of the cities and around Beaver Lake, homesites on wooded ground, and long gravel driveways.

Benton County land, in short

Cherty ground almost everywhere. Clarksville and Nixa soils together cover more than 40 percent of the county in its USDA soil survey. Both are packed with chert. Expect rock in every cut, and expect it to make a good compacted base once it's shaped.

Fragipans that hold water. Captina and Tonti soils, common on the flatter uplands, have a dense layer a couple of feet down. Water sits on it in wet months, so low yards and field roads stay soft.

Karst country. The county sits on the Springfield Plateau, with springs, losing streams, sinkholes, and caves. Logan Cave National Wildlife Refuge protects cave species here. We check where water goes before we regrade, and we don't push brush or fill into a sinkhole.

Beaver Lake on the east side. Most of Beaver Lake lies in Benton County, and US 62 follows its north and west sides. Hobbs State Park - Conservation Area covers about 12,000 acres south of the lake. Corps shoreline and park boundaries are where our work stops.

Oak-hickory woods turned to pasture. The county was once oak-hickory forest, savanna, and tallgrass prairie. Most of it is now pasture, hayland, and homes, and brush and cedar move back in fast wherever mowing stops.

How we sequence the work: Clear → Access → Drain

A new homesite in Benton County usually starts as a wooded tract with no road in. We clear it first so we can see the rock, the draws, and the best line for a drive. Then we build access that a concrete truck can use. Then we shape the site so water runs off the pad and doesn't sit on the fragipan or wash out the new gravel. The pad or driveway comes last. Packages on the home page: Mulch & Open, Clear → Usable, and Clear → Driveway/Build-Ready. Every project begins with a free on-site quote.

Permits worth knowing about

Unincorporated Benton County has a county planning department, so a few more rules apply here than in our more rural counties:

Arkansas 811 and ADEQ: call Arkansas 811 at least two full working days before digging. Construction that disturbs one acre or more needs ADEQ construction stormwater coverage (ARR150000).

County driveway permit: the Benton County Road Department requires a driveway permit, at no fee, before a new driveway is built onto a county road. The application goes in with a site plan.

County planning and lake rules: Benton County Planning handles stormwater and floodplain permits for unincorporated land. On Beaver Lake, Corps shoreline land needs a federal permit for any vegetation work, and machines aren't allowed there.

Benton County FAQ

Do you really come to Benton County from Berryville?

Yes. Garfield is about 33 miles and Rogers about 46, all on US 62. Acreage, homesite, and long driveway projects are the best fit for the drive.

Do I need a permit for a new driveway?

If it connects to a county road, yes. The Benton County Road Department issues a free driveway permit, and it's required before construction starts. State highways go through ARDOT.

Can you clear my land down to Beaver Lake?

Up to your property line. Below it is Corps of Engineers land, where vegetation work needs a Corps permit and is limited to hand tools.

Do you leave a burn pile?

No. On most mulching jobs, brush is ground into mulch and left on-site. That also helps when the county has a burn ban in effect.

How does pricing work?

Every quote is free and done on-site. Acreage, vegetation, slope, rock, drainage, and access set the price.
