Green Forest, AR Services
Green Forest is about 8 miles east of our Berryville base on US 62, a drive of roughly 10 to 15 minutes. That makes it one of the easiest places for us to reach. The 2020 Census counted 2,972 people in Green Forest and classified all of them as rural residents. Most of the land around town is farm ground, pasture, and wooded acreage stretching east toward Alpena and the Boone County line. Most jobs here are working-land jobs: reclaiming pasture, clearing fence lines, building shop and barn pads, and making farm drives passable in wet weather.
Ground conditions around Green Forest
Cherty soils mean rock. Like the rest of this part of the Springfield Plateau, the uplands around Green Forest are mostly Clarksville, Nixa, and Noark soils that formed from cherty limestone. Expect chert gravel close to the surface. That's useful when it's compacted under a pad, and it's a factor we price in when we cut grade.
Brush eats pasture from the edges in. Cedar, sprouts, and briars creep in from fence rows until a field loses a strip on every side. Forestry mulching takes that growth down to the ground in one pass and leaves the mulch in place. The ground can be seeded afterward, and the mulch holds seed during rain. If you want to keep some shade trees for livestock, we can clear selectively and leave a silvopasture layout.
Low spots and karst. Fragipan soils hold water in low corners and along field roads. Sinkholes are part of this limestone country. We don't recommend filling a sinkhole or pushing brush into one. We'll talk it through when we walk the property.
Farm drives get heavy use. Farm drives carry feed trucks, trailers, and equipment, not just cars. A drive that works for a pickup can rut out under heavier traffic. Base depth, crown, and drainage matter more here than on a typical house driveway.
What we do for Green Forest landowners
- Forestry mulching: pasture reclamation, fence-line clearing, trails, and shooting lanes. There's no burn pile on most jobs.
- Land clearing: new homesites, shop and barn locations, and cleanup behind a logging crew (slash mulched, stumps ground, ruts graded).
- Ready-for-fence prep: we clear fence lines wide enough for a fencing crew to set posts and run wire.
- Gravel driveways and farm access: new drives, repairs, culverts, and ditches.
- Grading and pads: barn pads, shop pads, and home sites.
- Drainage: swales, berms, French drains, and regrading for wet fields, lots, and buildings.

Green Forest FAQ
Can you prepare a Green Forest lot for a home or shop?
Yes. Clearing, grading, access, and drainage can be planned together so the pad and driveway are ready at the same time.
Can you clear a fence line so the fence crew can get in?
Yes. Fence-line clearing and ready-for-fence prep are part of what we do. Let us know how wide the crew needs.
What affects the cost of clearing pasture?
Vegetation density, slope, rock, access, and the finish you want (mulch only, usable, or driveway/build-ready). We quote after walking the property.
We just had timber cut. Can you clean up after the loggers?
Yes. Yes. We can clean up behind a logging crew by mulching slash, grinding stumps, grading ruts, and cleaning up the site.
Do you leave a burn pile?
No. For most mulching jobs, brush is ground into mulch and left on-site.
